To commemorate our 90th anniversary, The Bedford Garden Club commissioned a fence to surround the garden behind the Bedford Historical Society. We unveiled the main fence in November 2017, but we awaited student art medallions. Those steel medallions were received and unveiled Sunday, April 8, 2018, completing the fence.
The pieces, designed by Bedford High School students and cut by resident Brian Migchelbrink, hang along the fence south of the entry. Each of the six medallions depict a different aspect of Bedford history, such as the Viaduct and a stylized Spirit of ’76.
The medallions were designed by Bedford High School art students:
- Amir Doss
- Steven Miller
- Kendall Minner
- Michael Stephens
- Kaitlyn Walker
Artist Paula St. John, long-time Bedford Resident, also helped with the design of the medallions.
The art fence was designed and constructed by blacksmith artist Ken Roby. Gary Barnhardt and Steve Sladek also contributed to fence design and construction.
The Bedford Garden Club art fence was made possible by generous donations from:
- Gardening Know How
- Anonymous
- Ohio Arts Council

- T’s Painting and Sandblasting
